September 19, 2014

Those leaves are starting to change their wardrobe, and temperatures grow a little more comfortable every day. Summer appears to have packed its bags, and while it might linger in the doorway for a few last-minute conversations before hopping that cab to the airport, it seems those miserable dripping-with-sweat days might be behind us. Not that it’s been all that bad; this has been one of the more idyllic summers in recent memory. But just because things are cooling off a bit, it doesn’t mean the Funky Butt Brass Band is going into hibernation anytime soon. Au contraire, mes amis — we have plenty of gigs remaining in 2014, including some fun outdoor shows, which are much more enjoyable this time of year. There’s the Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival on September 20 (we play at noon, so get there early), and the 10th Annual Blues City Deli Streetfest on September 27.  If you live in the St. Louis hinterlands and like good BBQ, come see us Sunday morning, September 28, at the Wildwood BBQ Bash in Wildwood Town Center’s Fountain Square. And if hitting the local wineries is your thing, we’ll be at Chandler Hill Vineyards in Defiance on Sunday, October 5. Sure, our annual Holiday Brasstravaganza will be here soon enough (December 19-20 at Off Broadway), but for now, we hope you’ll enjoy the cooler temps and colorful leaves as you make plans to come see us soon.
